Daniel E. Sloppy, CPA/ABV, CFF, CVA, CFE, MBA, principal and director of Valuation and Litigation Services, joined Schaffner, Knight, Minnaugh & Company, P.C. in 1996. On January 1, 2009, the firm promoted Dan to the position of firm principal.
Dan graduated magna cum laude from Edinboro University where he received his B.S. degree in Accounting in 1988. He earned his Masters of Business Administration from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College in 1994. Dan became a Certified Public Accountant in 1991; a Certified Valuation Analyst in 1999; and in 2007, an Accredited Business Valuation Specialist and a Certified Fraud Examiner. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants awarded Dan with the Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) Credential in 2008.
During his early years with Schaffner, Knight, Minnaugh & Company, P.C., Dan concentrated on tax compliance and tax consulting. Recently, he shifted his concentration to business valuation and litigation support services. His technical skills make him one of the leading valuators in the area. In addition to being a firm principal, Dan is the director of Valuation Services. He focuses on business valuation and litigation support services, which has been a successful and growing service of the firm.
Professionally, Dan is a member of the American Institute and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
He volunteers his time as chairman of the Erie County YMCA Downtown Branch. Dan also serves as a board member of the Estate Planning Council of Erie, the Crime Victim Center and Northwestern Legal Services.
