Janel M. Bonsell, CPA, CFE, principal and director of Human Resources, joined Schaffner, Knight, Minnaugh & Company, P.C. in 1995 as the firm's first professional hire. On January 1, 2009, Schaffner, Knight, Minnaugh & Company, P.C. promoted her to firm principal.

In addition to her client service responsibilities, Janel is the director of Human Resources. She is responsible for overseeing campus relations, recruiting, career development and performance evaluation programs.

Janel earned her B.S. degree in Accounting from Gannon University. She became a Certified Public Accountant in 1996 and a Certified Fraud Examiner in 2005. She has spent a majority of her career in the area of accounting and auditing and has participated in significant consulting projects. She has also been very active in the firm's new hire and intern recruiting process.

Professionally, Janel is a member of the American Institute and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Janel is presently a member of the Board of Directors of St. Martin Center, where she holds the office of treasurer. She also volunteers her time on the United Way Leadership Giving Committee and as a panel member of the Athena Powerlink program. She is a member of the Erie Women's Fund of The Erie Community Foundation. Janel is a past board member of Family Services.
